The Cost of War

Drill into Public Education then Choose Wisconson and Shawano where my brother-in-law used to work. Today its showing there could be 57 more teachers in that school district. Does the school district even have 57 teachers today.

Font Fun

CAAArP

Red S

The NY Times is keeping from getting to work on time today.

A really interesting artcile about Fonts

A group banning that horrible font comic sans. I mean really, if one more stupid suburban house wife at where I work sends me another email with comic sans as the default font I'm going to scream. I even saw an executive give a PowerPoint presentation using comic sans. Why must the world be filled with tards who make more money than I do?

And the best, maybe. Turn your handwriting into a font for $9. I did this once with some shareware. It was a ton of work but ultimately pretty cool. Nine clams seems worth it though. So, maybe this worth it.

Way cool site

A bunch of drawings (or engravings? what do I know I've got an education from Wisconsin public schools) from old books. A couple links deep to get to them but well worth it. Now if I only had enough energy to make a mix tape or CD I'd have some great cover art.

Sticking it to the man

I love stories like this--No Need To Stew (you might need to register for the NYTimes to read--something you ought to do anyway).

I'm reminded of a roommate who would always mail every single piece of paper that came with the bill back to whoever sent us the bill.

And JM--if you're reading this check out the reference to Wicker Park at the end of the article.

Clogging

John Dvorak is always an interesting read. This one in particular

The Clogging Factor

I especially like the study about traffic times in London. Now I feel even about bragging that I can bike to work faster than I can drive there.

A Big FU From West Reagan

Perhaps the best essay I've read in the past year has been this reaction to the debacle in November
Urban Archipelago
See also the great cover from this issue here.

Well the same publication (The Stranger which is has consistently some of the best writing around) has answered a new state proposal to break the state into 2 parts.

Basically let the bastards go. If they think they'll be better off without Seattle subsidizing their lives--fine. They won't be creating a new GOP utopia--they'll be the newest third world country.

Like Anyone is Reading This Cares

Regular stop

I was trying to figure out how to add favorite blogs to the site and I'm just too stupid to figure it out. Or maybe too tired. But I'm posting the blog of local art queen Kirsten Anderson. She's always got something interesting to say besides running one of my favorte art galleries in town. Heck Roq la Rue is probably the 500 square feet (like I can estimate square footage) in all of Seattle. She's also edited a kick ass book on Pop Surrealism. Everyone should own this book.
